These Watermelon Lime Spritzers are the perfect cocktail recipe for a summer day. Made with four ingredients, naturally gluten-free + low sugar!
Today we're celebrating all things summer with a fun, flavorful cocktail recipe! Since I know, like me, many of you also like to enjoy the occasional adult beverage, I figured we should all have a recipe that's easy to make at home and has some actual nutritional value.
Enter these amazing Watermelon Lime Spritzers!
They're a light, summery and super refreshing drink that uses homemade watermelon juice, lime juice, vodka and just a splash of seltzer!
I know that alcohol and healthy eating don't normally go hand in hand, but I believe that life is all about balance and moderation.
And since I know many of us are headed to family gatherings, barbecues and summer parties, I wanted to give you something delicious to serve to guests (or enjoy yourself!). These watermelon lime spritzers use just four ingredients, take less than 5 minutes to make and are the perfect “mixed drink”.
They go well with pretty much all things summer, so you can serve them at a BBQ, bring some to the beach or even when you're having a girls night.
It starts with the juice which is just watermelon and lime.
To make it, just add cubed watermelon and three peeled limes into your high-powered blender and blend until smooth. Then you're going to want to remove the pulp by straining it through a nut milk bag (or cheesecloth would work too), until you're left with that gorgeous red juice.
(*note: if you have a juicer, you just juice the fruit)
Then you add your vodka and top it with some seltzer!
What makes this drink “healthy” you might ask? For starters, it's made with fresh fruit, has just 9g of sugar per serving, uses a clear alcohol (vodka) which is easier on your system and adds in seltzer for a sparkle!
This drink…
- won't send your blood sugar on a roller coaster
- will help keep you hydrated
- won't get you tipsy too quickly, which can be the case with most other mixed drinksĀ (just be mindful to drink responsibly and have water in between your drinks!)
- is naturally gluten-free
Plus it packs well for a picnic, beach day or even post-run meet up with friends!
If you're heading out for the day and want to bring a drink with you, these can totally be made ahead of time. The juice will keep in the fridge for 1 – 2 days, so you can just pack up your picnic basket your juice and seltzers and be out the door in a flash.
It would also be the perfect accompaniment to some of my summer meals like Tex-Mex Quinoa Burgers, BBQ Quinoa Pizza, Pesto Zucchini Noodles and more!
Your turn…

Happy summering!
